Alex and I were in first grade together. I will never forget the smile he gave me the first time we met.
I believe this not only speaks from my perspective but the many others that knew him. He treated everyone with the same amount of kindness and generosity.
I cannot imagine the pain Alex's family felt. When he came to visit our class with his mother after his chemotherapy, all I remember is seeing how proud his mother was of him and the amount of bravery he displayed.
