I don't like the term IT, and I don't like to term ICT. Because they both start with the word called 'information'. And that was very appropriate ten years ago when it was about closing the books and it was about counting how many tyres you have sold last week. But I believe we have to change these words, we have to change IT to BT. BT is Business Technology. Now it seems a little strange that just one word can make such a difference but if you think about how the culture relates to technology, especially in large companies. The change from information to business means that the people working in technology will now say 'well, you know, I am not in a closed society here, I am rather about the customers in my company and the business of my company.' And that is going to make technologists of large companies think very differently about how they relate to the business and relate to their customers.

And the same goes for ICT. That should be Business Communications Technology. Again because we are seeing... In the last ten years what has happened is that customers are now in the picture. Because there is a wire from every company to every customer, that is called the internet. And once the customer entered the picture, the technologists of companies couldn't just say 'well, I am about the inside of the company' because they are about that, but now they are now about the outside as well, especially the customer. So I want to change those words from IT to BT, and from ICT to BCT.
